Why source-code ownership matters for an export business
If a website is tied to a subscription platform or a developer who controls every change, the business has limited room to move. Source-code ownership lets you change developers, host elsewhere or extend the system when the business changes.
Ask for the code, database, deployment notes and administrator access as part of handover. These are operational requirements, not technical luxuries.
